9,000 8th graders is a documentary film by MAC + AVA motion pictures and funded by the Dan and Lillian King Foundation to document the Monterey Constitution Project’s first year of field trips to bring every 8th-grade student in Monterey County to see “Hamilton: An American Musical.”

About the Dan and Lillian King Foundation

The Dan and Lillian King Foundation was created to support educational programs and activities related to the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights, with emphasis on the principles of freedom, liberty and justice, and the form of government in the United States of America and its foundational principles. The Foundation supports educational programs and activities in the public schools in the State of California, and, primarily, Monterey County, California.

The Dan and Lillian King Foundation was established to provide funding to schools for teacher hiring, development and for student field trips to destinations in the United States where they can learn about the history of the United States government, the United States Constitution and its amendments, and the Bill of Rights.

The Dan and Lillian King Foundation Board of Directors

Nader Agha
Chairman
Nader Agha is a shining example of the American Dream. Having emigrated from Syria at the age of 22, with just $17 in his pocket and drive to thrive under the freedoms afforded under the United States Constitution, he has become one of Monterey County’s most successful businessmen. While Mr. Agha is very active in multiple businesses, his philanthropy is legendary—and baked into his work as a real estate developer. He focuses on providing affordable housing throughout Monterey County, which he sees as a way of giving back to the hardworking people of the area. Mr. Agha’s civic contributions are too numerous to mention, and he wishes to be anonymous anyway. He has proudly served as Chairman of the Board for the Dan & Lillian King Foundation since its inception. As evidenced herein, the King Foundation took 9,000 8 th graders from Monterey County to San Francisco to experience the Constitution brought to life, through Lin Manuel Miranda’s Broadway musical, “Hamilton,” in a manner that would reach an 8 th grade audience—and will again soon, as the Foundation is set to take next year’s 8 th graders to see the play. For many of the students, especially those who may not have imagined having such an experience, it was life altering. And that is why Nader dedicates so much of his time to this most worthy cause.
